Mosaic Mask 4 Day Workshop
Throughout history people have created masks for a variety of reasons. Masks can be power symbols believed by some to embody magic energies...to attract the power of the gods...to represent a person's hopes and dreams...or simply to function as a decorative piece to please the artist and/or the viewer. In this class we will be making a mask in which you alone will decide it's purpose. You will be supplied with a blank ceramic mask which you will then have the pleasure of decorating. I will offer you a choice from three different masks, and will be bringing a large choice of colored tiles and other 'goodies' for you to use. Please feel free to bring any other items that might have a special meaning for you that you would like to add to your piece. The mask form will have some holes in it which will enable you to attach some feathers, beads, anything you think will express your feelings or mood. Shelby has been a glass artist for 35 years and has been teaching mosaics for the last 10. She is a recipient of the very prestigious Corning Glass Museum's New Glass Review. The class is open to people of all levels of mosaic experience. Please join us for this fun, informative and creative workshop.
